Drug Discovery 2023 Awards

There are five awards that can be applied for, they are:

  • ELRIG's Early Career Professional Impact Award
  • ELRIG's Outstanding Achievement Award

Poster Awards

  • Best General Poster
  • Best Early Career Professional Poster
  • Best Vendor Poster
  • Best Augmenting R&D with AI Poster (Sponsored by the Digital Discovery - A Royal Society of Chemistry Journal: Only posters submitted to the Augmenting R&D with AI track are eligible) 

ELRIG's Early Career Professional Impact Award 2023

An Early Career Professional (ECP) can be a student in higher education undertaking an undergraduate or postgraduate degree (including PhD), or within 5 years of finishing higher education and starting their career in life sciences and drug discovery. Which of these definitions applies to you?

-Undergraduate student

-Postgraduate student (including PhD)

-Starting my career in life sciences and drug discovery

These ECPs are critical contributors to ELRIG, bringing new science, fresh ideas, and energy to every event.
This award will recognise impact achieved through one of the following ways:

  1. Through the delivery of impactful science, contributing to early, pre-clinical drug discovery
  2. By their science or technology development work
  3. Through their leadership or facilitation of collaborations within the drug-discovery space
  4. Through other philanthropic and volunteering contributions

ECPs may apply directly or be nominated by a colleague, as ELRIG invites the wider community to propose ECP colleagues that have made noteworthy impact.

In each case, application requires submission of the following:
1-page, 300-word synopsis of the ECPs contribution and its impact on early drug discovery, using the following form and a brief 2-page resume.

The deadline to apply is the 17th of September 2023.  The winner will be notified before our Drug Discovery 2023 event.

Poster Awards


Awards will also be given in the categories for Best General Poster, Best ECP Poster, Best Vendor Poster and Best Augmenting R&D with AI Poster.

How to submit a poster:

To submit an abstract, you must first Register for the event. As part of the registration process, you can add your poster title and abstract.
If you have already registered, you can log back in to add your poster information. Login

Poster Deadlines:

There are two deadlines – the first is to be considered for a Flash Poster presentation and the second is to submit your poster for general display at the event.

To be considered for an Flash Poster presentation at Drug Discovery 2023, please submit your title & abstract by September 13, 2023. The deadline for General/ECP Posters is October 08, 2023

Poster Acceptance:

The Scientific Judging Panel reserves the right to reject manuscripts that do not comply with these requirements. The author will be held responsible for false statements or for failure to fulfil the requirements.

The Scientific Judging Panel will check that all the information needed has been added and the poster is relevant to the event content

ELRIG will then send notification when your poster has been accepted or requires further information

An email will be sent prior to the event with your poster number

During the event:

A board will be available with your poster number and Velcro strips to affix your poster (Posters must be A0 portrait)

Poster sessions will take place for 30-minute sessions during both lunchbreaks and the networking session at the end of day 1.  We expect you to be at your poster during this time to engage with the delegates and the scientific judging panel

Judging for the awards will take place during the event by the Scientific Judging Panel and will be awarded at site and shared via our social media.

Each prize is awarded £250 which can be accepted, donated to your lab or donated to a charity of your choice.

The posters will need to be collected at the end of the event and removed from site; any posters left at the end of the event will be disposed of.

Flash Poster presentations:

This is an opportunity to showcase your poster in a 3 minute Flash presentation to the ELRIG community. There is a prize for the best overall Flash Poster presentation.  The Scientific Judging Panel will review the posters for Flash Poster presentations and if successful you will receive confirmation from the ELRIG Team two weeks prior to the event

The presentation timings will be confirmed nearer the event and you will need to prepare a PowerPoint presentation.
